Oi! The Print Review (AUT) - http://www.oitheprint.at/
PFLICHTKAUF!!!!!!!!

Ok, So I got this Record the Other day right after I caught the end of their set at Dingbatz in Clifton NJ. I was pissed they played so early because I really really really wanted to see them play. Not only do they have one of the more unique sounds the songs are very well written. They sound great live and this record was recorded really good so I was not disappointed in the least. Fact is Im glad I got it because I lost the CD Gerard (vocals, ex frontman of Bottom of the Barrel) gave me a year ago. I left it in the cd player of the rental car!

Anyway this is a great record, and if you are a NY Mets supporter you'll dig the ode to the Mets on side B.

Do yourself a favor and get a copy while they last:

Maximum Rock'N'Roll Review (US) - http://maximumrocknroll.com/2010/01/10/m
Decent debut outing from this NYC four-piece. The band displays some quality musicianship on the four workmanlike oi!/street-punk/rock tunes here, most notably in the occasional guitar leads and bass runs. The EP's title track is the best of the bunch sonically, with its catchy chorus and backup shouts, while the pro-working class track "Overtime" (dedicated to the Carpenters Union Local 45) has the strongest lyrics. For me, the weakest song (musically and lyrically) is the rockin' "Bridge Store." Finally, even though "Metropolitans" references the Sox's tragic defeat at the hands of the aforementioned in '86...at least they ain't Yankee's fans! - Chris Hubbard

45 ADAPTERS, THE:
Not One More Day: 7”
After a quick glance at this 7” jacket, smattered with Fred Perry ensembles and a dedication to a carpenters’ union, I was preparing myself for some run-of-the-mill, American-style oi. Thankfully, this is not the case. Actually, the 45 Adapters (questionable name choice aside) are infinitely more interesting than the bands they’d likely play alongside. Make no mistake, there are elements of gruff street rock present, but it’s clear that these lads also have an ear for Jamaican ska and R&B, and it shines through not only in the music, but also in the production of the record. The recording alone sets this band apart from its peers, which is painfully necessary in a genre that is totally oversaturated and typically invariable. I’d definitely be interested to hear what else these guys have in store. –Dave Williams (Longshot/Contra)

Track Listing:

A1 Not One More Day

A2 The Bridge Store

B1 Metropolitans

B2 Overtime

" There's no such thing as stealing songs to whom does the sound of thunder belong"

That is a line from the first track on this 7" and at that point I know I was listening to new fresh voice in the Oi! scene. This band's sound is full of soul with touches of rock and 77 punk. With all of that, it is pure skinhead / mod music.

Not One More day is a tight hard song that attacks major record companies and defends free sampling of digital music. The chorus is song with such passion. And the music builds it right up to blow it all up during the chorus.

Who in this world has not been with a woman or man that puts us down, tells us have lies and through blind love we follow them around like a puppy on a leash? With the Bridge Store, the 45 Adapters tell such a tale. Pickabar brings the soul with his delivery and the band with a loose jangle guitar sound and boom bap beat drives it home. I love that these are not typical tough guy retread lyrics but real life stuff that is well written and honest.

Track three is great except it is about the Mets! Although, I want to say to the band: thank you for writing a song about the team you follow in America and not some soccer team in England that few real Americans watch (and just say they do so they can wear the scarf and act like they are bigger hooligan skinheads than anyone else because they are into English soccer). Those pretentious fashionistas can go fuck themselves for all I care. My main problem with the track is I dislike all New York sports teams (I double hate the fucking Yankees). On a serous note the song is good and is meant to be fun which it is!

The 45 Adapters finish this amazing single off with a look at the average working man and the lot in life he is allowed. The drumming on the intro is great, but the true stand out on this track are those amazing vocals by Pickabar. hand down my favorite track on the LP.

4.75 out of 5 Oi!s
