Here's album no. 5, which is already their third record on our label. And it's been huge pleasure to work with OLDFASHIONED IDEAS again.

So what's new "Still Worth Fighting For"? The Swedes have sharpened their blades on this record: Growling lead-vocals meet highly melodic arrangements, which really come to shine through the use of horns, saxophone and trumpets. David (GATANS LAG) and Linda (THE BUSTUPS) bring a fresh element to the tried-and-true sound of the band. Female backing vocals remind one of the best songs of "Confront"-era PERKELE. The further stepped up their songwriting, three of the new songs they brought in outside-assistance by Swedish punk legend Coste Eriksson (NASTY BOYS, LOWRIDERS, JET BLACK GASOLINE). No doubt, this is their best album so far, this much should become apparent on the first listen. And as you goe through this record song by song, you will find one new favorite after another.
This is Swedish Oi! Punk with a lot of power and heart!

THE BRASS debut album - after their 2016 EP and a few demos (which were released on digital sources and on tape only) - could be labeled as a blueprint for the term "American Oi! in 2018". The band was found in Canada a few years back, then moved to New York and currently hail from Philadelphia. During that odysee they seem to have breath in that air which made bands such as THE WRETCHED ONES or ANTI HEROES made that great in the past and which makes us like NO TIME or PMS 84 today: Raspy, mean vocals, solid song structures and a big dose of anger and hate. That album is a killer from the beginning to the end, it's diversified but always has an own THE BRASS trademark: From an 80s French-Oi! inspired song (Saxophone!) to some Hardcore influenced songs to a track which reminds to the first BISHOPS GREEN 12" - it's all into OUR OWN PATH. Plus a cool EDDIE AND THE HOT RODS cover version (...you guess what song).

When we were talking with the STOMPER guys about releasing their new album a few months back, the boys made clear: "This will be our best album yet, no doubts!". And when we've got the recordings a few months later it was solved: they haven't promised too much. This is the best STOMPER 98 album ever, this is probably the best german Oi! album of the last decade. At least. Upon the first note makes clear: This is an Oi! album in the tradition of the german legends from the 80s. Pure and raw power, 110% Skinhead lyrics, 110% Oi! Music. It's STOMPER 98 at it's best, aggressive vocals, melodic guitars, a powerful bass and drum sound spiced up with that smart implement of the saxophone which makes the band so unique. To compare the sound of STOMPER 98 to other bands is not an easy task, there is a lot of german 80s Oi! music in, just think about bands such as the infamous BÖHSE ONKELZ, there is also some french influences like KOMINTERN SECT and, to name a few newer bands, there is also some LION'S LAW in the new STOMPER album.

Especially when we release records from bands without a "big name" or completely unknown acts which are only familar to the "insiders". At the end we are surprised and happy if you like these bands as same as we do. Our slogan "No Time For Bad Music" drives us forward and of course we will stick on this motto in 2018. A few "well known acts" and a lot more newcomers. Contra in 2017 and Contra in the future! 

In 2017 we established a new website which was a struggle for months. Beside this we said welcome to our newest Crew member Steffi, who is responsible for shipping and dry humor. 

In the past year we've done not less than 34 records, which is completely sick. Maybe we need someone who says "stop" at some point. But most of the time we are really enthusiastic and want "this must to be released!". So no expensive cars, no hookers and no golden water taps for the Contra team, we rather put the money back into the next debut single of a new band….

Our newest releases are 2 of the best so far, the MASTERLESS DOGS EP and the debut from the FACELESS OFFENDERS. Maybe two contenders for some 2018 yearlists. By the way, here are the "Best Of 2017" lists by our staff:
